BENEFITS
COST SAVINGS
When these procedures are performed in a hospital setting or outpatient surgery or endoscopy center, there is a facility fee to cover the costs of facilities and staff. The facility fee often more than doubles the cost of the procedure. When the procedure is done at Saltzer Medical Group, your only fee is for Dr. Page’s services. There are no facility fees. Therefore, there are significant savings.
LESS PAPERWORK
When done at Saltzer Medical Group, there is no additional billing paperwork or facility forms.
LESS TIME
Typically patients are in and out in an hour or less.
EXPLANATION OF SERVICES
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is the most accurate and cost effective method for colon cancer screening. It has become the standard procedure for early cancer detection, and colon cancer prevention, by searching for and removing colon polyps.
In addition, colonoscopy is useful for evaluating a number of other symptoms such as abdominal pain, bleeding, changes in bowel habits, colitis, and anemia.
Colonoscopy is done with sedation.
Sigmoidoscopy
This procedure is done to examine the lower part of the large intestine (colon) using a lighted viewing scope.
Flexible sigmoidoscopy is not commonly done for colon cancer screening, but is done for other limited applications.
Sigmoidoscopy is usually done without sedation
Upper GI Endoscopy
This procedure is done with a smaller, flexible scope and IV sedation. EGD is useful for evaluating problems such as ulcer, heartburn and reflux, trouble swallowing, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
