When the earthquake hit Haiti a few weeks ago it was hard for everyone to see the devastation. For one boy in our family it was personal. Nine year old MJ Salois lived in Haiti until he was five and still has relatives there. Within 48 hours of the quake MJ was at Saltzer asking for donation to send to Haiti. Initially 50 pounds of medical supplies, and at a later date much more medical supplies wer shipped to support the relief effort.

MJ also put up collection jars at Saltzer. Our generous patients and staff donated over $160 in change to help pay for the expense of shipping the supplies

One of the things that makes me so pround working for Saltzer is their level of commitment to the communities it serves. Every month at our business development meetings we discuss lots of opportunities on how we can contribute and make a difference. In the past year we have done some great things. We worked with the Nampa Police Department to get a “Mobile McGruff” who will appeal to kids and help keep our kids on track. We also sponsored the Health Fest at the Idaho center. What a great event. We have also done dozens of sponsorships that include Relay for Life, Special Olympics, Drug Free Idaho, Boise Philharmonic, Nampa Swim Team, and many other worthy causes. One of our latest ventures is new to Saltzer. We are the parade sponsors for the Melba Olde Tyme 4th of July celebration. If you have never been to Melba on the fourth, you are missing out. It is lots of fun for everyone. There are kids games, a chicken round-up, horse shoe pitching, a classic car show,and of course the parade. The event is topped off with an AMAZING fireworks display.
