My Rehab Journey (7)

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Yeah!  I got a thumbs up to start riding, which I did over the weekend, and I am walking  without crutches.  Still a way to go, but I am on my way.    My ankle flexibility is not where I would like it to be and I find myself compensating by bending my knee or hip in ways that are not normal, which is causing some pain in other areas of my body.  Maybe I should listen to my PT, Daranee and stop doing that.

My Rehab Journey (6)

I am definitely making progress.  Today my crunches showed a great improvement in flexibility, and we also added some new exercises, which were both encouraging.  My new goal is to be walking completely without crutches in two weeks, and to balance on my foot for twenty seconds without holding on to anything in the same time frame.  I see my doctor on July 28th, which is only a week and two days away.  Maybe I can push myself just a little harder and get it all done by then.  When I visit him my big question will be if I can climb on my horse again.  I will let you know what he says.

My Rehab Journey (5)

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Today is Monday, July 12.  Well, I’ve met my first two goals – walking without assistance in less than four weeks of weight bearing, and increased flexibility.  I can walk without my crutches, but I don’t want to do it for very long.  I am still riding the bike and utilizing the shuttle.  I’ve also added some lunges and back to some of the “prancing” I discussed in an earlier entry.  I am headed in the right direction and I hope to set some new goals at my next session.  I will fill you in soon.
