Does the fat come back? That’s one of the most frequently asked questions during a SmartLipo consultation.

The answer? No…and yes. When fat cells are removed by liposuction from an area they will not “regrow” in that same place nor will they migrate from another. However, if there were pockets of fat cells left in the area and you were to gain a large amount of weight those cells could expand and possibly create a few lumps and bumps. Also, if you were to gain a large amount of weight fat cells in other areas on your body would expand. Sometimes it evenly distributes throughout your body and sometimes it finds one specific place to now call home.

The key is maintaining your current weight after the procedure or continuing to lose if that’s what you and your health care provider have decided is best for you.

So in the end SmartLiposuction is a permanent solution to fighting hard to beat areas of fat as long as you maintain your current weight or continue to lose those few extra pounds.
