Winter sports require physical conditioning and some explosive strength to minimize the chance of injury.
If you are a weekend warrior that wants to jump right into a ski trip, here are some things you can do now to prepare your body.

- Start exercising now
- Work on flexibilty
- Hydrate and eat healthy foods
- Get plenty of rest
- Take a multivitamin every day
Exercise does not require a gym membership. Brisk walking, running, biking, jump roping and hiking will help you get your heart rate up to increase endurance.
Core strength is also very important. Practice planks, lunges, squats and wall sits to help increase your core strength right at home.
Prepare for impact
Exercise that involves jumping and stair climbing will help prepare your body for the impact you might encounter while doing winter sports.

Whichever resort you choose to visit, make sure to get the number of ski patrol and program it into a cell phone you carry on your person. In the event of an accident, access to help is critical.
